Hey There! I’m Lori!
I’m a wife, mom, former teacher, and now blogger. I’m flawed but forgiven, imperfect but loved.
I’m here to give you hope and a plan!
I’m mom to six children, and now ‘Ree’ to three littles (yep, I chose ‘Grammy’, first grandbaby chose ‘Ree!’). I worked full time as a teacher while raising my girls, then along came four boys within just two and a half years. (Um, hello? Can you say four in diapers???) I quit my job and became a stay-at-home mom. I loved being home! But as they got older, and schedules and laundry and sports took over, I found myself feeling stressed more and more.
Raising my family, I dealt with many challenges and struggles…many of the same ones you’re dealing with right now. And I didn’t have much help to try and figure it all out. But I did. Well, I didn’t figure it ALL out, but there are many things I discovered along the way that truly made a difference in not only how my kids turned out, but how my life turned out.
I know there are days that you feel like you just don’t measure up. You look around at your home and don’t even know where to start. You feel guilty about everything, the weight of the world is always on your shoulders, and there is just never enough time. Ever.
Joyful Thrifty Living is about helping you make peace with yourself, and discovering the joy in the day-to-day.
Here you’ll find strategies to eliminate the stress in your life, from simple (and cheap!) dinners, to creating fun memories with your family, to organizing your closet, to throwing an amazing party on a tiny budget.
Have you ever felt like your circumstances determine your mood?
Things are going well, and momma is happy. This, in turn, means kids and hubby are happy. But then dinner burns while you’re tending to a crying baby, or playing referee to screaming children, and suddenly you are impatient, frustrated, even angry. At the end of the day you feel guilty. Horrible.
You promise yourself you will do better tomorrow.
We mommas need more than a few tricks up our sleeve in order to be our best. And honestly, we aren’t always going to be our best. But if we can get rid of the stress, if we can find joy, our mindset will begin to determine our attitude. We will find joy, and pass that along to our families, and everyone we encounter.
And that, dear momma, is what it’s all about.
My mission is to help you find ways to take back your life and your joy. One task at a time. One baby step at a time. One meal, one routine, one budget, even one drawer at a time.
You cannot take on everything all at once and expect good things to happen. But when you make small changes, over time, you get big results. Huge results!
So jump in right where you are. I’ll be right there with you, every step of the way.
Lori
